  • A peel treatment, also known as chemical peel or facial peel, is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, or hands. It involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the outermost layers to peel off, revealing smoother, healthier-looking skin underneath.

Chemical peels are typically performed by dermatologists, estheticians, or other qualified skincare professionals. The procedure can be tailored to different skin types and concerns, ranging from mild peels that produce subtle improvements to deeper peels that target more significant skin issues.

During a peel treatment, the chemical solution is applied to the skin and left on for a specific period of time, allowing it to penetrate and exfoliate the outer layers. The solution is then neutralized or washed off, depending on the type of peel used. As the skin heals, the old, damaged layers gradually slough off, revealing fresher skin with reduced signs of sun damage, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, or uneven texture.

Chemical peels are categorized into different types based on their depth of penetration:

Superficial Peel: This type of peel targets the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis). It uses mild acids, such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), to exfoliate and refresh the skin. Superficial peels are generally well-tolerated and have minimal downtime.

Medium Peel: A medium peel penetrates deeper into the skin, reaching the upper layers of the dermis. It typically utilizes stronger acids like glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Medium peels may require a longer recovery period compared to superficial peels.

Deep Peel: Deep peels are the most intensive and invasive type of chemical peel. They target the deeper layers of the dermis, effectively treating more severe skin concerns. Deep peels often employ phenol or high-concentration TCA.

Depending on your skincare goals and overall skin conditions will determine which peel we will choose to treat your skin. Home-care products are necessary and strict SPF protection must be maintained.

  • Microchanneling, also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that involves creating tiny channels or punctures in the skin using a device with very fine needles. These microchannels stimulate the skin's natural healing process, leading to the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining skin firmness and elasticity.

During a microchanneling treatment, I will use a specialized handheld device that contains multiple tiny needles. The device is gently rolled or stamped over the skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. The depth of the needles can be adjusted based on the specific skin concerns being targeted.

The microchannels created by the needles allow for increased absorption of topical serums or growth factors applied during the procedure. This enhances the effectiveness of the skincare products, as they can penetrate deeper into the skin and deliver their beneficial ingredients directly to the targeted areas.

Microchanneling is commonly used to address various skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and enlarged pores. It can be performed on the face, neck, décolletage, and other body areas.

After the procedure, the skin may appear slightly red and feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. However, the downtime is generally minimal, and most people can resume their normal activities within a day or two. Over time, as the skin heals, there is a gradual improvement in the overall texture, tone, and appearance of the treated area.
